Well....

So, yesterday was NOT the PET Scan, it was the 6-month MRI, which is informative but not quite definitive enough to make a clear decision. The tumor has still not moved/grown, YAY! This leads to another good piece of news which is: I will stay off chemo until my PET Scan, NEXT WEEK! =) Today and yesterday have been the first two days in months that I haven't had chemo in my system. Funny that the world seems a little lighter? Feels like I've been holding my breath underwater for a long time and although I didn't come up gasping for air, I've still come up. AND... I have been asked to be the keynote speaker for a student group's kickoff meeting for Relay for Life. Students of Albany Against Cancer (SAAC). Next Wednesday night. Albany raises between 80-100,000 for Relay each year, and I'm the speaker to get everyone motivated to get to work! =) I'm really excited! Wednesday Nov 2nd, 8:45pm in the Campus Center Ballroom, for those of you who are local reade...

50th Post!

50 posts, DANG! I talk a lot! I got a little excited today, there is a job that will soon be coming up in my department, as an Assistant Director, that would be like, my DREAM job! Instead of an entry-level, this is an actual "I can move out of the residence halls" and have a REAL life job! Cross your fingers, I'll keep ya'll updated, as soon as I know. I am definitely qualified, but I don't know how interested my top competitors may be...etc. =)  The other issue is the Big C. My department knows my health status, will that keep them from wanting to keep me permanently? Am I too much of a liability? Something to think about... Either way, cross your fingers!! Other than that, Jason and I might have a little adventure this weekend. I need to get off campus Soooo...... we will: Go spend a day in New Haven! We like it there, Yale is a fun campus to walk around, there's Ikea there, (my FAV), and a thai food place that is on point! On the cancer front, I'...

Big News Coming Soon!

Well, I spent my writing time adding pictures... scroll down and have some fun! Please don't laugh too hard at my snowbeast pic. Nice socks Eric, btw... October 27th is the BIG DAY! I am getting a PET Scan, which will show the cell activity of my tumor. It will also tell us if I can be officially declared "in remission" and quit chemo, or if I will still have a little while to go. I'm having my Doc appointment the very same day so I don't have to wait. =) Smart Doc, she knew both my dad and I would stalk her, so she was better off to give me some answers the same day! Hehe. In the meantime, it's work work work work work, oh, and some more work. Oh, and a nap. I had chemo this last Wed-Sun, so I'm needing to nap more for the next few days. No biggie, not a tough work week, the students had a little break over the Jewish holiday so there's not a stack of incident reports for me to do, I can focus on the fun stuff like all of our BREAST CANCER AWARENE...

So what is my purpose exactly?

Busy Life updates: I Work a LOT. 60 hour weeks still... I don't know how I manage to do it with all these doc appointments, but I do. On a fun note I had little "mini vacay" in the city last weekend with Jason. What I like to call "one night in Harriman NY in a skanky motel honeymoon suite. Otherwise known as: GROSS." This most recent weekend I on duty which is what I like to call 48 hours of "Shut up, please." This upcoming weekend is CLASH OF THE QUADS which is like the pseudo-Olympics for the building complexes on campus, it's a lot of fun. This year's theme is super heroes, and we are one of my favs. So I get to say one of my favorite Sheldon quotes: I'm Batman!! (From Big Bang Theory my current fav TV show). So that's what's going on in life I guess. I was able to go to tumor support group last monday. Lots of new faces to me, and so many different and interesting stories. I'm comforted to see that people live with this f...

A wrinkle in time...

So.... a month hiatus from my blog? WHOA, goes fast. Since August 1st, I have had prostaff training, including a retreat where I pulled a cord that let me free-fall 30 feet, had student staff training, prepped our buildings for students, and moved in 1500 students. Oh, and managed to have two seizures, and made it through an earth-quake and a hurricane. So forgive me for the long absence, but I've been working 40-60 hour weeks, and jumping right back into a familiar hat, workaholic.I know it's been awhile, but my boss has had to turn into "Mama Jermaine" and kick me out a couple times. Good for him, he's supportive! I also went into the neurosurgeon friday and got a report of "no change" on the tumor between May and end of July, almost 3 months. Aside from the seizures, this means I'm doing AWESOME. I have another doctor's appointment on Wednesday with my oncologist. We'll talk about my most recent scan and also the most recent seizures...

Do ya understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?

Today was a lesson in communication. After being really cranky yesterday because the day started great and ended poorly, I was pretty disappointed when by noon, Jason was 0-3 in tasks/plans/etc due to miscommuncation. By 1:30 he was 0-4 and had cost me a 30 minute drive each way to the middle of nowhere by myself. So, I know Jason isn't the most open about our personal life, but I can be, because I'm comfortable like that with my close friends and family, so I can be here. Jason and I have been arguing pretty heavily since Feb of 2010. We argued over valentines day, made up, we were on separate schedules for the summer, we bickered in the fall  for my birthday trip that went terribly wrong, through bronchitis as I applied for gradschools and we missed thanksgiving with his family because we were spending it with mine. Then, we got in a big ole throw down argument during the holidays about our new years plans... then, I got sick. I lived with my aunt while I was sick, so we ...

Home Sweet Home and Verbal Lashings! What?!?!

After a 4 hour drive to Farmington Hills to visit one of my BFFs, followed by a drive to Ann Arbor for 5 hours of fun and another BFF, one day/night in Novi to see Jason's parents, one day/night in Ubly to visit my mother's family and my grandpa's b-day and such, and lastly, a 12 hour drive (bridge traffic WHOA), I made it to Albany at 11pm Sunday July 17th. Take THAT! Not only did I drive, I drove A LOT, with not much rest, and I did AWESOME just like I used to. I even beat Jason (who was driving his car back) by about 15-20 minutes. So, I think we can finally put the car thing to rest doctors, I am made for driving, I was probably a trucker in a past life! Honk Honk!! In the midst of all that, I worked in some "family drama" on both fronts, meaning with my immediate family and Jason's family. Always a favorite! Luckily I was a bystander with Jason's family, and "drama" in his house is a like a day with flowers and butterflies and sunshine c...
